The first promo of Ekta Kapoor’s television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday. It will feature actor-politician Smriti Irani reprising her iconic role of Tulsi Virani and Amar Upadhyay playing Mihir Virani.
The promo opens with a family having dinner at a restaurant as they talk about Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. On the TV in the restaurant, the iconic opening song of the first part plays over with a younger Smriti singing it. There is a conversation among the family members as a young man is humming on the song. His wife asks if he still remembers it. He says that the show was his mother's favorite. The scene then shifts to Smriti watering a Tulsi plant at her home with a smile on her face. She announces that the popular show is making its return after 25 years.
Sharing the promo, the makers wrote, “The makers shared the video with the caption, “Kya aap abhi bhi vishwaas nahi kar paa rahe? 25 saal ke baad, Tulsi Virani laut rahi hai, ek nayi kahaani ke saath! Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi ek baar phir taayaar hai har ghar ka hissa bann ne. Kya aap bhi taiyaar ho? The show recently completed 25 years on July 3 since the first part aired in 2000. The promo was set to be released on July 3, however got delayed.
The second part of the show will reportedly retain the flavour of the original while introducing modern sensibilities in the story in order to cater to younger audiences as well.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 will premiere on Star Plus on July 29 at 10:30 pm. It will also be available to watch on JioHotstar. Apart from Smriti and Amar, it also stars Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan.
